Book Review: On The Chase by Katie Ruggle

September 5, 2017

On The Chase is a book in the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series, and the very existence of a unit containing three police dogs and their handlers in a town small enough to have only one diner honestly had me questioning the whole premise from the get-go. As did the idea of a girl who'd moved to California because she loves the warmth and sunshine happily settling down in a back-of-beyond Colorado snow town.

If you can get past those unlikely issues, though, there's a lot to enjoy in this book. Hugh and Grace have great chemistry, bouncing off each other with wit and snark, at cross-purposes until a looming threat forces them to trust each other. From that moment on, they get ever closer, fighting on the same team. Lexi, Hugh's K-9 partner, was adorable and deserved a lot more of her own storyline in the book.

Overall, an enjoyably escapist read. Four stars.

On The Chase is available now.
