Eva King’s a city girl, an urban artist only in the country because her next art project will (she hopes) be a giant mural on an old grain elevator. Casey Carmody is a country boy, a cowboy who sings for a country band, working himself to the bone with his brothers and sister to keep the family ranch afloat. On paper, they seem like opposites, but opposites attract as often as not, and in this case, their attraction is instant and scorching hot.
Chemistry aside, the more time the two spend together, the more they realize they do have things in common. They both have dreams they haven’t been able to chase, Eva because of an ex-boyfriend who deliberately held her back, and Casey because he’s been putting his duty to his family above his own dreams.
The thing I liked best about this story was the way Casey and Eva prompted and supported each other in reaching for the stars. Unfortunately, I felt the ending was a little bit rushed and came somewhat at the expense of including a lot of sex scenes, and I mean a LOT of sex scenes. We could really have skipped over one or two and rounded off the story arcs a bit more completely.
Four stars for a solid and believable romance between two very realistically drawn characters, but I gotta admit to being a little disappointed in the ending.
